Windows Ownership and Permissions
Greetings!
I'm back with another issue. But I'm not sure if this is a Windows issue or a ReadyNAS issue or both. :-(
I did a clean install of my system. Well it was actually an image of my system that I recovered, which I believe is clean (to the best of my ability) ... mainly because I did all updates and software installations right after I bought the unit about a year ago. So I started from there. And after reinstalling/updating the OS and apps, I got clobbered by 2 apps that I use regularly: iTunes and Windows Media Player 12. [I tried to replace iTunes with Amarok 2.6.x but unfortunately it can't read from a network drive/location.] I've spent time trying to find out if the issues are with the apps. They're a bit similar to both but not exactly the same and it has something to do with access rights to folders/files.
So I'll talk about iTunes because that's what I use a lot and I spent a lot of time trying to find a fix.
My main drive in the laptop has 3 partitons: C:\OS, D:\Mydocs and G:\MyStorage. I only changed the C:\{OS - Win7} partition by recovering the saved image I mentioned above.
Thanks in advance for any help.

I have my iTunes library separate from my media folder but both are in my ReadyNAS Ultra 4 under the \\{share}\media\music. The errors give me clues as to why I believe it's a share/access issue.
From my Standard Win7 account,
1. Every time I run iTunes I always get the iTunes Software License Agreement.
2. When I open my existing iTunes Library located in the ReadyNAS try to Sync or Backup my iPod Touch 2Gen from my usual Standard Win7 account, I get a Sync error even before I plug in the iPod to the USB. The msg says, "iTunes was unable to load provider data from Sync Services. Reconnect or try again later. [OK button]"
3. When I ignore and continue with the backup an error occurs telling me that the backup is corrupt or not compatible with the iPod and asks to delete the iPod and try again (reset). I tried to but the next error tells me that I have no access rights or something.
4. A search in apple.com said I needed to be in an Administrator account. So I went to my admin account, opened my existing iTunes Library. The Sync error message didn't pop up. But when I tried to do a Sync I got an error saying "Some of the Audible files in the iTunes library were not copied to the iPod because you are not authorized to play them on this computer." My Audiobook folder is also inside the ReadyNAS.
I never changed the Share Access and Permissions before the "clean re-install". I've got "Unix User\nobody" as the owner of the ReadyNAS folders/files.
My solutions off the top of my head, which is a two-point process:
5. Make my Standard Win7 account into an admin account. But then this will not solve the issue in no. 4 (can't access Audible folder). I should instead give access and permission rights to my standard win7 account to ReadyNAS. I tried doing that but Windows won't allow me to add users from a location that is not from those authorized by the NAS. Any ideas on how to do this?
6. I should then see what's with the Audible folder that will allow me access (standard and admin) in Windows.
[I'm also posting both questions to a Windows 7 forum site because I feel that this is a Windows issue but I'm not that sure.]
