I had the same question before, but turns out because of the my 2.4Ghz signal is surrounded by too many interfere (neighbors wifi, coreless phone, etc.) Since I bought a 5Ghz DIR 628 and use it as AP, problem solved, and I'm getting 8M/s 802.11n speed.
