wish: Frontview-option (TURN HDD-bay-no.2 "off")
Hi,
i would like Netgear to include an option to activate HDD-bay no.2 manually.
and also deactivate it , if i would like it.
goal is to keep hdd-bay no.2 inactive in order for the harddrive to not wear out as fast as my harddrive in bay no.1 .
another goal would be to have a backup of bay no.1. which could be used if bay no.1 fails... .
I think this is a green soulution, isn't it ?

HDD2 is there to make HDD1 redundant. If you 'turn it off' you lose that functionality. You need it 'on' it you want a backup of HDD1.
If you don't want the RAID functionality, you can put the system in Flex-RAID and have two separate volumes. If you aren't actively using the Volume D, that disk could spin-down when not in use.
