Writing to the LCD (RN516)
Does anyone have any notes on how to enable hardware support or load kernel modules etc, in order to obtain a workable method to access the displays on ReadyNAS devices from within alternative linux ...

I believe I now have the source (or most of it), for the LCD driver/kernel patch, and for the readynas userspace code for handling LCD operations.
This is right at the limit of my experience with linux, software development - with the proximity to the kernel and device drives/modules being somewhat beyond me.
Does anyone have relevant experience of turning a kernel patch into a standalone loadable module, that might work on newer kernels (I believe there could well be some changes needed)? I'm not equipped to make the changes to the code, nor create the right kind of build environment to even attempt a compile of a loadable module.
Anyone out there able to operate in this territory, and have an interest in preserving the life of ReadyNAS hardware beyond the creaking OS6?
