Someone from Netgear might want to look at the logs, so maybe give them a chance.
One option is to remove the drive (which will degrade it again), and perhaps zero it using vendor tools in a PC, and then reinsert it.

Pulling the drive and reinserting to let it sync a second time seems to have done the job!
