My RN312 is super slow on resync after new disk has been added
After firmware update to 6.10.3 I started to look at the logs and saw increased ATA errors. Since the NAS is 7 years old I thought it might be a good opportunity to start exchange of the disks. I bo...

Hello Uffe1959 ,
Welcome to the NETGEAR community! :)
You should make a backup of the data first of all (on another support) as long as you have access to it.
The errors come from the drives, so the chassis is probably not faulty. The sync probably takes so long because there is drive failing there and with the constant read/write operations of the sync the ReadyNAS might struggle if a drive is bad.
Could you send me the logs via MP, please?
Have a nice day,

Hello Uffe1959 ,
So, the logs are confirming what I previously advised.
Replacing faulty drives would be the best solution.
Did you manage to make a backup on another support?

Hi !
I have bought 2 new similar disks to the ones previously installed.
Now system reports 11 hours to complete resync, it looks like almost 90% of the data was synced on the new disk I installed beginning of April.
The earlier resync never reached 20% and expected finalization was in 25000 h ... but some how 390 Gb of around 420 is on the new disk.
I still have most of the data on other disks/laptops but a thing like this makes you start to plan for a backup solution of some sort..
Thanks anyway !
