Our PD's are mainly AP's from Ruckus Wireless and use a poe negotiation based on LLDP. These APs can operate on different poe levels. They power up on poe (802.3af) with reduced functions and transmit power. After that the AP uses LLDP to determine the capability of the PSE. If the PSE is capable of poe+ or poe++ the AP switches to the corresponding poe mode and increases transmit power and functionality. In this way the AP is usable with wide range of PSE's.
I hope this explains why I like to have LLDP support on the 300 Series Plus Switch (GS316EPP) and the other switches in this serie.
