The synchronization requires the NAS to either read or write every sector of every disk.  So it will take some time.

What disks are you using?  There are some disks that aren't well-suited for ReadyNAS.  These disks use Shingled Magnetic Recording (SMR).  These disks will have extremely slow sustained write speeds, and the sync time will also be extremely long.

Many drives in the 2-6 TB size range are SMR.  It's best to use either Seagate Ironwolf, WD Red Plus, or enterprise class drives.  Avoid WD Red, as those models are SMR.
