What is IFTTT and how do I use it with my Arlo camera?

Arlo partners with IFTTT (If This Then That), a free cloud-based service, to connect your Arlo account to your smart home devices so that they interact in the ways you want.

For example, when you use the conditional if-then recipe shown in the following image, “if arlo, then hue,” your smart lights will turn on when your Arlo camera detects motion:

To create an IFTTT account:

  1. Enter https://ifttt.com/ in the address bar of a browser.
  2. Sign up for an IFTT account and follow the prompts to create an account.
  3. Sign out.

 

To implement an Arlo recipe that was shared by another user:

  1. Enter https://ifttt.com/arlo in the address bar of a browser.
  2. Sign in to your IFTTT account.
    The Arlo Channel page displays.
  3. Review the popular Arlo recipes.
  4. Click a recipe icon.
    Note: Choose a recipe that calls for apps and devices that you already use.
  5. Follow the prompts to implement the recipe.
  6. Sign out.

 

To create a new recipe:

  1. Enter https://ifttt.com/ in the address bar of a browser.
  2. Sign in to your IFTTT account.
  3. Click My Recipes at the top of the page.
  4. Follow the online prompts to create your own recipes. 
  5. Sign out.
