I own the original Arlo Q (without PoE). My question is: Can I purchase just a PoE adapter, and connect it to the unit without purchasing another Arlo Q (the newer version with PoE)?

They both seem identical...except for memory slot, (which I don't need) and PoE. I just don't want to purchase an entirely new Arlo Q unit just for PoE when the older version works fine.... Any help?

No, they are different.

TBMK; The original uses a mini usb and the Q+ has a usb 3.0 type plug

q plus

Thanks... I just thought there was a way around having to spend $250 for another camera that I don't need. Ugh....

FWIW, you can use a USB2.0 micro plug in a USB3.0 connector - it uses the larger portion of the two part connector.  Whether that would work for the Q+, I have no idea. In any event, the Q is WiFi-only so you'd only be able to use the PoE adapter to power the regular Q, if at all.  The Ethernet part wouldn't work in any case.

So you can use the Arlo Q or Arlo Q plus and connect it to wi fi with no need for wires?

Other than power via the USB power supply, correct.
