I cannot seem to find an indoor placement of these cameras where I am able to montior outside at night. My only choices are through a window (with or without a screen). I cannot mount outdoors (due to cold winter weather and a lack of electrical outlets outside). If I cannot get this to work then I think I will have to return these cameras because they are pretty worthless to me if they are not effective at night.

This is what I see when there is no light outside (see screenshots below):

But, the Q will work fine thru glass...Mine looks thru Andersen double pane windows and work fine out to about 60ft sense.

Couple of things tho in htis setup;

1) night vision must be off or it will reflect and wash out view

2) exterior lighting of some sort is needed ( cams are good with low light but still need some )

3) make sure the camera isn't back lit.... I have mine cover with the drapes ( otherwise light from inside can reflect off glass too )

example of outside, 100w lighting and moon..also street lights ( if you look close , some inside reflection on right showing mini-blinds )

Thanks TomMac!

A couple other notes that may help others with similar problems. I was trying to change the camera settings via the website using my laptop. Although it looked like the settings were changing, they actually reverted as soon as I left the page. I had to use the app to get the changes (no IR, no status light, change in motion sensitivity and zones monitored) to "stick".

Cameras are actually working suprisingly well with the ambient city lights and a light on my garage in the back.
