Access Point IP address
I am attempting to setup the Wireless Access Point following Netgear's instructions, by connecting it directly to the desktop computer. The computer (Windows 7 x64 Ultimate) does not recognise the Access Point, so used the cmd ipconfig and there is no default IP address. In Windows settings I inserted the default IP address details and it shows in ipconfig, but still cannot connect to the device. I would like to set up the Access Point so that I can link it to my router. I don't know what I should be doing for it to be recognised. Help would be very much appreciated.
Re: Access Point IP address
Don't know if the WG102CTPRv2 differs from the WG102 - the NETGEAR WG102 ProSafe 802.11g Wireless Access Point Installation Guide does ask to set a static IP address on the Ethernet/LAN interface (you can do this as a primary or alternate config):
"Prepare a PC with an Ethernet adapter. If this PC is already part of your network, record its TCP/IP configuration settings. Configure the PC with a static IP address of 192.168.0.210 and 255.255.255.0 as the Subnet Mask."
Do a factory reset on the WG102 - this will make the device using the static IP 192.168.0.229.
"Connect to the WG102 by opening your browser and entering http://192.168.0.229 in the address field."
