Ethernet Light Orange

We have purchased a WAC505 for our office to provide Wi-Fi access for visitors. This has been plugged into the office ethernet port which is live and powers the device but we have a orange light for Ethernet.

The WAC505 has been configured and we can connect via Wi-Fi but obviously there is no access as the Ethernet is not receiving the signal.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Mark

Re: Ethernet Light Orange

Worth a test: Take a healthy CAT5A or better patch cord (with eight strands/four pairs), and connect WAC505 and the GS724Tv3 direct.

As the switch is not a PoE model, are you using a "correct" power supply?

Re: Ethernet Light Orange

Not sure what the obvious part is - check the fine documentation (WAC505 User Manual) on p.13 for the LAN LED description. In general, LAN LED amber indicates a speed negotiated to 10 or 100 Mbit/s only.

If it's driven from a GbE port, this could indicate an issue with the cabling, patch cords, ... either there is just a two pair (for strands) cable in the play, if there are four pairs (eight strands) something is not properly wired.

Said that, if the 10/100 Mbit/s link is really working, there would be some restricted speed communication in both directions.

What PoE switch is deployed there?

Thank you for your reply, we are running a Netgear GS724TV3-A59F, i will have a look at the wiring see if this helps.

Re: Ethernet Light Orange

All sorted, swapped the cables out.
