Insight subscription ended-how do I logon to my router?

OK Again--my son just walk into my office, I told him about this and he said, "I forgot to tell you I changed the IP a while ago.

Sigh.

Apologies to all.

The GOOD thing about this post is that it has been running so well for so long that no one has actually logged into it for months except my son who apparently changed the IP.

I AM logged on now.

Once again my deepest apologies for the confusion and I'll leave the rest so people can see:

#1 what an idiot I am sometimes 🙂

#2 ask others in your house before posting hostile stuff in community forums

#3read 1 and 2 once again so yah don't forget.

OK.

I never wanted to use Insight.

I called support during my one free year and the Netgear support guy talked me into using it.

He showed me that not only can I logon to Insight and see the AP from any internet connection but I could still use my local private IP address to logon to the AP at anytime and that after the Insight free one year subscription ended, if I chose to NOT pay for that subscription, I could then revert to using the local private IP and my username/password to maintain the device.

While I was talking to this man and often for about the first 2 months after this conversation, I would logon to the device using the local IP and my username/password and it was no issue whatsoever. I eventually got over my paranoia and did not logon to the device as it was just working.

Well, I don't want to call him an outright liar but THAT is NOT the case with me.

My subscription has apparently ended.

I get the prompt to subscribe to Insight now and it is blocking any access to the AP device now that the subscription has ended-while the subscription was active I had zero issues logging in via the Insight URL OR the local private IP with username/password that I created.

I do not want to pay 120 dollars a year US (I am in Canada) just to get emails at work when the PA is offline or comes back online.

There is always at least 2 out 3 computer science engineer's with masters degree's at home (my wife or my oldest son who is always at home unless he needs groceries or something) and THEY are quite capable of troubleshooting network issues on this device.

I put the IP into the browser and hit go and it times out.

I ping the IP of the device and it says destination host unreachable

The device is on, and working I can see it on my firewall and all the cell phones, TV's and multiple VR headsets are communicating with the device even as I type this out.

There is NOTHING wrong with the device except it is blocking ALL access to it until I pay $120 for a years worth of Insight-which I DO NOT WANT.

I cannot stress that enough-to me it is just wasted $$$ - why spend it if we can use/maintain and trouble shoot the device without it.

(my family is all IT techs and developers-we can do without Insight tyvm)

I need to know if the only way to get outta this is to reset the device to default and IF THAT'S THE CASE then it is kinda crappy of Netgear to do this to it's customers.

Can someone PLEASE tell me how I get logged into the device using the IP and username/password without resetting to defaults?

Or is this default reset the only way?

Re: Insight subscription ended-how do I logon to my router?

Thanks but I did not need to do that.

AS my edited question reveals , I did get logged onto the device and I simply changed the management mode to local instead of Insight or Cloud based.

Reset and setup from scratch using a wired PC and web browser.

Refer to any quick installation guides or user manuals for the product model your referring too.
