Managed wireless solution with WAC720 and WC7600

Looking for a managed wireless solution with around 15 x WAC720s. The requirements are as follows:

  • Multiple SSID; one for corporate connected to internal MPLS the other for guest wifi connected to external ADSL
  • Captive Portal Page for Guest Wifi
  • Ability to use Radius for corporate Wifi, using Certs and standard WPA2 for guest wifi.
  • Manage bandwidth / prevent wifi hogging for better user experience
  • Easy to manage remotely over VPN
  • Scalable

Can someone tell me if any of the controllers or business central can meet these requirements?

Thanks in advance!

Re: Managed wireless solution with WAC720 and WC7600

Hi,

You can choose either the controller or Business Central options.

The controller option is a on-premise option with 3 diferent sizes of controllers (WC7500, WC7600, WC9500).  With your 15 x AP's, any one of these controllers will work.  Although keep in mind that the WC7500's maximum capacity is 15 AP's.  So, if you plan to expand beyond your initial 15 AP's, it is best to select WC7600 (support up to 50 AP's, and can be stack up to 3 to support up to 150 AP's).

The Business Central is a cloud version that you do not have to pay for initial deployment for management (still needs to buy the AP).  You pay on the annual subscription.  Great thing is that you don't need to manage the hardware.

Both solution can operate remotely over VPN.  All of your features below can be satisfied with either solution.

If you prefer to 'touch' the hardware and own it from cradle to grave, wireless controller is your choice.

If you have limited initial CAPEX budget, and prefer to pay as you go, and do not want to manage controller hardware, Business Central is your choice.

WAC720 can be managed by either controller or Business Central.

Hope this helps.
