WAC124 Invalid gateway IP Address

I am attempting to configure the WAC124 as an access point on my home network. I have turned off DHCP and set the lan to use address 192.168.0.68 in the LAN section of setup. I am able to connect to the WAC through my network but it does not have any internet access. I have a motorola MG8702 modem router located at 192.168.0.1. I am assuming that I need to modify the settings in the Internet Setup section of the setup menu. Looking at other posts on the web they have mention setting the default gateway and dns server to 192.168.0.1, they do not mention what the IP address should be. So 2 questions come up. Firstly should I use the ip of my router or the ip of the WAC or some mystical ip I have which I have no clue about. Secondly when I use the ip of my motorola for all 3 fields I get the "Invalid gateway IP Address" message but no information on why it is invalid. Any help would be much appreciated.

Re: WAC124 Invalid gateway IP Address

Netgear has set up a community forum specifically for the Business Wireless products. Most of the people who watch that forum are more likely to have experience with business wireless products. Might be more likely to find someone who has a solution if the question is posted there:

Please use this link to the main forum product list to review and choose where to make your posts.

Re: WAC124 Invalid gateway IP Address

@Iutcal,

Just to verify, if you connect a PC directly hardwired to the Motorola MG8702 modem router, are you able to access the internet just fine?

You can set the IP Address of the Motorola MG8702 modem router as the default gateway.  For the DNS Address, you can use 8.8.8.8 or 8.8.4.4.

Not sure what are the "3 fields" you are referring to.  Is this on the web-GUI of the WAC124?  Kindly post a screenshot of it as well as the screenshot of the error message.

Re: WAC124 Invalid gateway IP Address

Start with the WAC (in AP mode) configured o DHCP, and let the WAC fetch the complete IP config from the router based DHCP server. This will show the current valid configuration. Much more flexible if you get one day a new mode/router or any other router defaulting to a different IP network.

Desperately want to out up a static IP config to the WAC why ever, replicate the DHCP assigned data, just ensure the .68 LAN IP (hopefully available) is in place.

Much better would be to add a MAC-IP address reservation the router DHCP config, and keep the AP config on a DHCP client config.

Unclear if you state just the WAC can't get to the Internet, or if all the wireless clients you associate with won't get Internet access. Keep in mind the wireless clients typically get the network config from the router DHCP s server - the WAC Ap IP configuration is just for the AP purpose, no for the wireless clients typically.
