WAC510 Android Devices Disconnecting constantly

You recently fixed my issue with android devices not being able to connect to the wac510, however they dont seem to stay connected.  See below log, let me know what else you need.  I've tried disableing band steering, and forcing the units to 2.4ghz band but no luck, keeps disconnecting.

I received a beta firmware from your colleagues and I must say that my issues have been resolved.  Well done to you and your  colleagues and NETGEAR.  Hopefully this also resolves issues other users have had.

Re: WAC510 Android Devices Disconnecting constantly

Hi James,

Welcome come back.  Is this 00-9E-C8-B5-48-A7 mac address of your Android TV? Do you have any other wireless clients having the same issue? Please download the detailed logs and share the packet capture as well. We will take a look at this issue.

Thanks

Re: WAC510 Android Devices Disconnecting constantly

I have the same exact issue with one of my devices,  it was connecting properly but now

i am getting  NETGEAR WAC510

IEEE 802.11: Station disassociated due to reason code 8.  I have tried everything as well.

Yes I am on the latest firmware, all to no avail.   In order to use the device I need to crank up my old access point.  So I know its not an issue with the device.  Netgear.. Help

Re: WAC510 Android Devices Disconnecting constantly

Hi Carmen,

Can you please share the model & version of your Android device?

Please start a packet capture (refer attached screen for packet capture) before connecting your Android device and capture till you see the issue. You can save and send  it us for debugging.

Thanks

Re: WAC510 Android Devices Disconnecting constantly

Applologies,  I should have said earlier however my device is not an android its a wi-fi thermostat (sensi by emerson).I I should also have added that it was working properly for a while. I beleive something went amiss in the last firmwar update. However now the issue is just the same as described.  I will note that when it was on the network properly the WAC510 gave the OS as being a Blackberry. That I consider strange.

Re: WAC510 Android Devices Disconnecting constantly

It appears that this is a known issue from thermostat side. Can you check this. Create a separate SSID for 2.4GHz and other for 5 GHz radio. Please share the detailed logs (Save the detailed logs from Monitoring page of WAC510 AP), packet capture  in Non-promiscuous mode,

and MAC address of wi-fi thermostat

https://sensicomfort.com/support/article/router-compatibility?product=wi-fi-thermostat

Dual Band Routers

Your Sensi thermostat can be used with dual band access points or routers. Dual band access points or routers broadcast two (or more) wireless networks (SSIDs) – one (or more) in the 2.4GHz band and one (or more) in the 5GHz band. Your Sensi thermostat is only able to connect to wireless networks operating in the 2.4GHz band. If there are wireless networks with the same name (SSID) operating on both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, there may be difficulties experienced with connecting the thermostat to your desired wireless network.

We recommend you configure dual band routers (2.4GHz and 5GHz) to have different SSIDs for the two different frequency bands. This allows you to easily connect your faster, higher data rate (streaming) devices on the 5GHz band and keep your lower data rate devices (printers, thermostats, home automation, etc.) on the 2.4GHz bands. Please consult your owner’s manual or visit the manufacturer’s website of your router or access point to determine how to change your wireless network SSIDs, if needed.

Re: WAC510 Android Devices Disconnecting constantly

Raghu

I did that as part of my own trobleshooting,  however for the sake of obtaining the logs.  I changed the SID to only broadcast on the 2.4GHZ band and then saved the logs.

The Mac address of the Sensi is 34:6f:92:03:ba:a6.  The results have not changed.

The logs file was a GZ Archive file.  I added the PDF extension so I could send it to you.

If you require the PCAP file let me know

Re: WAC510 Android Devices Disconnecting constantly

Unfortunately you have taken packet capture on the brtrunk interface. Can you please take it from wireless interface where you are connecting your thermostat? Note- take capture in radio1(2.4GHz)/radio2(5GHz) with promiscuous disabled

Thanks

Re: WAC510 Android Devices Disconnecting constantly

In an effort to provide further assistance to netgear,  I did the following

1.  Downgraded firmware to 1.5.3.6

2.  Set up a separate sid to test

.... Results-- same not change the Sensi unit tries to connect and then disconnects on a code 8

3.  Further downgraded the WAC510 to 1.3.0.10

Results:  on the first startup,  the sensi unit came online imediately

   Disabled the sid

Re-enabled the SID and again the sensi unit came online ..

I have attached the screen shot of the connected device.  I hope this helps in the resolution of the issue..

I would preferr that the AP be at the latest firmware,  however I require the devices to be functional.
