WAX206 firmware V1.0.4.0 bug: invalid NTP server accepted
A simple yet annoying 100%-reproducible bug in the WAX206 firmware (version 1.0.4.0) pertaining to NTP. Not sure how this one passed QA checks...
- Log in
- Advanced -> Administration -> NTP Settings
- Choose "Set your preferred NTP server
- For "Primary NTP server", enter:
- A hostname that doesn't (ex: this-is-bogus.com), or,
- An IP that doesn't have an NTP server running on it, or,
- A system that doesn't have a functional NTP server on it
- Click Apply
- Advanced -> Administration -> Logs
- AP will show "[Time synchronized with NTP server]" no matter what.
In other words: there is no way for an administrator to truly know if NTP settings are functionally working or not; AP reports they are no matter what.

Re: WAX206 firmware V1.0.4.0 bug: invalid NTP server accepted
I really shouldn't write bug reports at late hours! Several typos/mistakes. Here's a revised version:
- Log in
- Advanced -> Administration -> NTP Settings
- Choose "Set your preferred NTP server"
- For "Primary NTP server", enter:
- A hostname that doesn't resolve (ex: this-is-bogus.com), or,
- A hostname that resolves (or use an IP address) but doesn't have an NTP server running on it (or is otherwise unreachable, e.g. firewall, NTP service ACLs that deny access, etc.)
- Click Apply
- Advanced -> Administration -> Logs
- AP will show "[Time synchronized with NTP server]" no matter what.
