Wifi network solution for 200 users?

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for answer about a network infrastructure that can support our mobile application.

We would like to offer to our costumers a simple and removable network infrastructure for multiples rooms.

We are looking for a network solution that can provide theses situations:

  • Wifi (N) coverage, bi-band, for 200 users, 500m2 without structural barriers.
  • Be used in local (LAN), with a maximum bandwidth per user of 20kbps up/down, which is 4Mbps up/down maximum in global.
  • Could also be used with an internet connection (WAN), while maintaining a quality of service for VoIP communication (UDP) on LAN network. So we need:
    • Configurable QoS
    • Bandwidth limit per user
  • The network could be expanded, if needed, to 400 users.
  • The system, once configured, should be un-pluged, moved and pluged again without complementary software configuration of any kind.
Can someone give me some advice about the best networking materials for this purpose ?
Thank you very much!

Best regards,

Pierre-Louis

In stand-alone mode, does the WNDAP660 has a DHCP server ? Can't find the information in the data sheets.

An Optional DHCPv4 Server can be configured on the WNDAP660 access point.  Kindly check page 27 of the WNDAP660 reference manual here.

What about 2 WNDAP660 access point connected to a ProSafe VPN Firewall with a DHCP server and so on?

The firewall won't give me a PoE, but beside that, can it work?

It will still work.

Hi plfirre,

The WNDAP660 Wireless-N Dual Band Access Point seems to fit your requirements.  As per page 29 of this link, it says that it supports 256 concurrent clients when the WNDAP660 is used as standalone access point.  QoS can be configured as well.  Kindly check these links below for more information:

Re: Wifi network solution for 200 users?

Hi DaneA,

Thanks for your respond.

I'm a bit septical about just one AP for 200 users, but well.

In stand-alone mode, does the WNDA660 has a DHCP server ? Can't find the information in the data sheets.

What about 2 WNDA660 Access point connected to a ProSafe VPN Firewall with a DHCP server and so on ?

The firewall won't give me a PoE, but beside that, can it works ?

Thanks again,

Pierre-Louis.

Re: Wifi network solution for 200 users?

You may want to consider a managed wifi solution.  http://www.netgear.com/business/products/wireless/wireless-management/ and http://www.netgear.com/business/products/wireless/wireless-management/business-central.aspx

Free Netgear WiFi survey: http://www.netgear.com/landing/wifisurvey/

Find a local reseller in your area.  http://www.netgear.com/business/buy/#tab-authorizedresellers

They can't assist in product selection that fits your needs.
