Re: Wireless Access Points with Guest Network feature

Usually most will require to use VLAN with AP to do that at least prosafe AP that netgear has and other consumer level from netgear for AP model most doesn't have one

I would look at open-mesh.com and use their cool products .

Re: Wireless Access Points with Guest Network feature

Hi there,

I'm pretty new about wireless devices...
I know that (at least that is what I understand reading a few posts) a VLAN is needed in order to set up a guest access in wireless network.

I'm wondering if the WAG102 AP can allow me to setup a guest wireless.
I want that users can't see my internal network. They have only to be able to surf on internet.

Thanks a lot for your help.

Re: Wireless Access Points with Guest Network feature

AP does not have VLAN so you would need to use multiple AP with switch for one for primary and one for guest

It does has radius server so you could play with that way to block some share folder

Re: Wireless Access Points with Guest Network feature

"Ability to configure 16 BSSIDs and VLANs to provide more granular access to the network based upon user type" Based on this, taken from product sheet I would say yes to your question, But you need to setup A VLAN which may or may not be able to do depending on your current network equipment in place. If your needs are small most netgear home routers have the guest network option. Are you trying to add this into a large network? If yes then I believe a VLAN would be needed to support a guest network. Depending on what's in place you might just replace the router.
