AC1900 C7000 v2 slow WiFi speeds

I have Comcast Internet and was getting a little over 150mbps with the xfinity router but I wanted to save some money and not rent the router so I bought a Nighthawk C7000 which is on the comcast compatible list. I have my desktop hardwired and am getting the 200+mbps I pay for. The problem is that now when I do speed tests I am only getting between 50  and 60mbps sitting next to the modem and between  20 and 40mbps in another room. Speeds are consistent on phones, wifi computers and wired computers. I was getting 100mbps on all devices just before I switched so I know it's not them. Today I just did a factory reset and that also did nothing. All 24 downstream Bonded channels are showing locked and 4 upstream are showing locked but im not concerned about the upload speed.

Thanks for any help,

D

A couple questions.

1. what is your housing materials?

2. what radio are you connected on? 2.4ghz has further range but much slower speeds.

3. Have you tried changing wifi channels?

4. How much wireless interference do you have in your area?

5. What speed settings do you have setup in the router?

6. Have you checked to make sure wmm is enabled?

Please bearwith me, im not the techsavviest person.

1. Not really sure what you mean... Drywall, wood? that would really only affect the speed as i get further from the Router, but as I am literally sitting next to it now, on my phone, my speed is in the 50s

2. Im on 2.4, but like I said im sitting right next to the router, surely I could get more than 50/250 sitting next to it?

3. I havent, is there any rhyme or reason to them, or just try different ones until I find which works the best?

4. Im' not sure, I dont think too much.

5. How do I tell?

6. I dont kow what WMM is.

Re: AC1900 C7000 v2 slow WiFi speeds

I've had the same C7000 since it was released. Same issues. After some random time, usually a couple of weeks or so, both the WiFi and LAN speeds slow to a crawl. I have Spectrum 300Mbps download / 20Mb upload. When I start noticing slow speeds, I go to speedtest.net and it shows very slow 40-50Mbps download. The only way to resolve the issue, is to reboot the modem. It will stay at that slow speed indefinitely until rebooted. Spectrum has no idea on how to fix it and referred me to Netgear. Yet Netgear has never fixed the problem. I'll be replacing it soon with another brand. I tried changing WiFi channels on both 2.4 and 5Ghz. Didn't help. But it's not just wifi, but LAN speed affected too.

2.4ghz is much slower than 5 ghz. Even close to the router.

What speeds do you get over 5ghz and what speeds do you get hardwired?

Wireless is a good indicator of how a devices is performing but many things impact the speed such as the device testing with, housing materials, wifi interference, etc.  5ghz has less interference and much higher throughput (speeds).

@WarpedTrekker Your issues could be much different as you're having lan/wan speed changes. Please start your own thread so we can help specific to you. Please include a screen snip of your modem connections page. Spectrum isn't known to be even slightly helpful with troubleshooting their lines if you're using 3rd party equipment.

I have the same exact problem.  Using Wi-FI sweet spot app, I get 200mbs from my device to the router after a reboot. Like you, after a few days or so, speeds drop to 40mbs or so.
