C3000-100NAS Hard Drive not recognized
I've previously used an external IDE USB Disk housing for NAS with the C3000 and it worked OK until the drive died. I had to get a new housing due to changing to SATA drive. The C3000 would not recognize (NO USB DRIVE) the new drive/housing - rebooted the C3000, no help, rebooted the PC (Windows 10 ver. 1903), no help. The new housing has power-saver (auto-off) but I was able to click on the "refresh" Button in Genie several times with the drive running, no help. Tried a different drive, no help. Drives are Seagate ST1000DM010 and WD FDB1002FBYS, both have previously been used as internal drives and worked fine. I suspected the one new component, the USB housing, so I unplugged the USB cable from the modem and plugged it into the PC's USB port = worked great, NO problem, WITH the same USB housing (except that the PC doesn't let it sleep). Disks are freshly formatted with NTFS in the same PC, no MBR. Help?

Re: C3000-100NAS Hard Drive not recognized
Was the old USB case USB 1.0 or 2.0? Is the new USB case USB 3.0?
Some USB 3.0 may not be backwards compatible.

I believe the old case was 2.0 (maybe not high speed 2.0); the new one is 3.0. I used the same USB cable (2.0) as I only expected 2.0 speed - and the power is separtate. It is possible that the unit is not downward compatible - I cannot get that answer from Amazon or the vendor - although I thought sownward compatibility was part of the standard. Even on the old case, I had to power-cycle the modem top get it to find the external HDD.

Re: C3000-100NAS Hard Drive not recognized
Probably the new USB 3.0 case is not compatbile with the modem.
You can't use a USB 2.0 cable on a USB 3.0 device. Has to be a 3.0 USB cable. One with the blue connector plug at each end.
