This is connected to a standard cable ISP. The system is a custom built, encrypted server, running Windows 10 (largely disabled) Mozilla4eThe modem part works fine, even the cabled router works fine. But the WiFi is still from that jerkoff that I should never have given a taste down below, and which is useless to me at my new flat. I know I can pay someone to cable everything by just drilling holes through walls, floors, etc., and installing a hub to handle all those cables. But seriously? What is the point in having these 65" smart oled TV's with full high speed streaming on wifi, when I don't have a usable wifi? And what about when my girlfriend and I are lounging with our iphones - can't go through our Proton VPN unless we can access the fileserver at the core. More cables for the iphones, from the bedroom? Will I need them in every bloomin room? Or should I just trash this WiFi Cable Modem Router, and buy from a more reputable company like Cisco?

If you can access the gui from the browser (hardwired in based on your post) you can reset it. the option is under  advanced-->administration-->backup settings   and there's an erase section on there. It should reset everything back to default.

There's also the reset button on the device that you push for 7-10 seconds until the lights change on the combo device. That'll reset it as well.

have you tried these options?

Also try doing a reset with the ISP Coax cable disconnected from the modem.

What channels are you using? Auto? Try setting manual channel 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz and any unused channel on 5Ghz.
Any Wifi Neighbors near by? If so, how many?
