C6220 as an access point with Xfinity Gateway
Hi,
In my new home I cannot use my C6220 as the connection is fiber only (Xfinity) - I have to use their gateway. I'm trying to use C6220 as an access point now to extend wifi range a bit.
I've connected it via Ethernet, set up wifi network different from the one on the gateway, configured C6220 to have static ip address (and reserved it on the gateway), disabled dhcp and dns broadcasting on C6220.
Now I can access Internet if I connect to C6220 wifi, but there is a catch - connection stops working properly every few minutes: I can still ping everything, but I cannot connect to any port. E.g ping google.com will work, but https://google.com won't open. And the biggest mystery to me is that it all starts working again if I open C6220 web interface on that device. Note, opening the gateway web interface doesn't fix the problem.
I feel this is some sort of timeout or a security "feature", but I didn't see anything neither on C6220 not on the Xfinity gateway. Any ideas what should I look for?
