C6300v2 factory reset SSIDs/passwords

After factory reset, WiFi SSIDs and passwords not not match original settings. Custom settings don’t work; manually entering what should be the factory settings doesn’t work. Cannot access router setup. Could this be a firmware issue?

Re: C6300v2 factory reset SSIDs/passwords

Factory reset clears all previously configured user settings like WIFI SSID names and passwords. So you'll have to set up the modem again from scratch and re-configure the SSID and passwords for custom configurations.

The router did not return to factory settings. It’s broadcasting different SSIDs than what they should be. I cannot access the wifi setup via browser or Nighthawk app.

Re: C6300v2 factory reset SSIDs/passwords

So pressing the reset button for 15 seconds doesn't clear out and return the modem to original factory defaults? Even with the ISP cable coax line disconnected from the modem?

Last resort you can try a 30-30-30 reset with out anything connected to the modem. I'd disconnect the ISP cable coax line from the modem as well.

Yes, I’ve tried multiple resets with and without coax, 30-30-30, no luck. SSID is coming back as NETGEAR instead of NETGEAR43. Reset passwords do not work for access, cannot join networks.

If the 30-30-30 reset didn't fix this, then can only presume the modem has gone bad.

I’m still looking for way to manually update/reset the router firmware and recover…

Unfortunately, C series modems users can't manually send FW to the modem. ISPs can only do this. Same with CM series modems.

Re: C6300v2 factory reset SSIDs/passwords

Did you try connecting a ethernet PC or laptop to the back of the modem to see if you could get logged into 192.168.1.1 after the 30-30-30 reset?

I've seen the wifi on/off button get hit during resets. And "netgear" is a pretty generic name. It could be a neighbors. I'd try checking to see if the wifi is broadcasting (is the led on) and hardwire a pc/laptop into the router for setup. Tends to be faster and work better than over wifi IMO.
