My Netgear C7000v2 router needs a firmware upgrade. When I enter the Netgear app, I see a screen saying "Firmware Out Of Date."
That is an error in the app. (I thought they had fixed it months ago.) Ignore it.
The app should not tell you to update the firmware on a cable modem because you cannot update the firmware. That is down to your ISP.
