CAX80 - Can a software update make it mesh capable.
I just bought this router. it has the latest firmware(2.1.1.4). I simply overlooked the mesh capability part because I figured a modem of this caliber would cover my home. It is a 2 story, <2000 sqft and the CAX80 is on the first floor dead nuts in the middle of the house. The wires speeds are impressive, but the wifi range lacks severely. it seems it would be VERY easy to upgrade some firmware and then to simply be able to use the MS60 series. I would use a MS62, install the router hardwired. Wouldnt take much to have the router pickup the SSID from the CAX80 and make it a mesh device.
Any ideas or pointers?
Could I just buy the MS62, use the same SSID but force it to different channels?

Re: CAX80 - Can a software update make it mesh capable.
No the CAX80 isn't a mesh router and won't be upgraded to that.
But you could always add mesh extenders like the EAX15/EAX20/EAX80 to it.
Or you could add a mesh system and run it in AP (access point mode)
If your home is only 2000sqft, then the cax80 should just about cover it if its standard construction. If its not, then an extender could help.

Definitely standard construction. Just sad. at paying $429.99 and to have the range so short.

Have you tried moving it around a little?
Sometimes unexpected things in the walls like hvac/foil lined insulation can cause issues
