Hi,
Sorry about the confusion, will try and clear this up
So down stairs is where I keep my modem/Router - DGN2200V4 connected to the Fiber box, all inside a server cabinet.
On this Modem/Router I have wireless enabled so we can have wireless network when we are downstairs.
Inside this cabint is our media server - Dlink DNS 345 Sharecenter which is plugged into an unmanaged Netgear Switch via ethernet, this also streams media to our TV's upstairs via ethernet, but currently not used at the moment.
Up stairs we have two netgear devices, one is a router switched to access point mode and the other is a wifi extender switched to access point mode as well - WNR2000V5--WN3000RPV3
Both we use for wireless on the same network as downstairs and have them running ethernet cable back to Netgear unmanaged switch downstairs which then runs via ethernet to the DGN2200V4.
As far as Subnets???
Which device manages "the wirless network upstairs"?-I'm gathering its the Access Points upstairs, as far as I'm aware the wireless network upstairs is the same as downstairs, same ssid and password.
The same downstairs, the Modem/Router's wireless network manages it.
Hopefully this clears up some confusion.
Thanks

So I also forgot to mention that I have my modem router set to "Must use ethernet Wan, and that goes to the fiber box.
Just an update: when I'm downstairs, if I turn off the wireless network coming from my modem/router-DGN2200V4 and make the computer connect to the wireless network upstairs then I am able to connect to the media server ok.
I only seem to have issues when I'm connected to te wireless downstairs.
