XF needs to help you upgrade FW on the modem. ISPs are responsible for any FW handling on cable modems. There is no user updatable FW for CM series modems. Contact XF and have them push FW to the modem. FYI, some ISP will not push FW to user owned modems. Something to ask the ISP about.

The firmware is part of the provisioning. When Wave pushes the provisioning, it contains its firmware for their service.
It won't be "blocked" from being downgraded.
Do you have a screen snip of the cable connection page and the event log?
Is the CM1000 compatible with Wave?
