How can I connect HP Laptop directly to CM400
I'm trying to test the speed coming out of the modem because XFinity is suppose to be giving me 275mbps and I'm only getting 120-135 tops! A couple of times I was only getting 35mbps, and upload was rediculous! I have a new HP laptop, new CM400 modem, and a 3 year old R6400 router. I followed the steps on Netgears help section, pluged in the ethernet cable, opened the browser, put in http://192.168.100.1 and nothing was found. I'm not a cumputer guru but I kinda know my way around. Does anybody have any light to shed?

_Which_ "the steps", _where_, exactly?

Not a useful problem description. It does not say what happened when
you did what you did. As usual, showing actual actions (commands) with
their actual results (error messages, LED indicators, ...) can be more
helpful than vague descriptions or interpretations.
Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your model number,
and look for Documentation. Get the User Manual. Look for
"Troubleshoot" and "Cannot Log In to the Cable Modem".

Make sure your laptops networking settings are set to auto obtain IP addressing for the wired adapter in the laptop. Remove any static IP address configurations.

Unless that's exactly what you need to do.
