"CM1200"?

Which kind of "not working" is this? As usual, showing actual
actions (commands) with their actual results (error messages, LED
indicators, ...) can be more helpful than vague descriptions or
interpretations.
What, exactly, did you connect to what, exactly? (Hint: If a device
has different types of Ethernet ports, then "connected to device" is not
enough detail.)
Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your model number, and look
for Documentation. Get the User Manual. Read. Pay particular
attention to what the User Manual says about how to use its "LAN ports".
(And, what it doesn't say.)

"wifi" suggests that you have a wireless router. You should probably
connect your (unspecified) router (WAN/Internet port) to "LAN 1 port"
on the CM1200. And connect nothing else to the CM1200 LAN ports.
Connect your client devices to your (unspecified) router (LAN ports).
