Nighthawk CAX80 DNS and static IP issue.

Hi, 

Here are the issues I have seen on CAX80.

Fist Issue:

I removed all the IP from the DNS. I found out that I was able to access internet without any issue. I wanted to block random IP and the network should have been connected through specific IP. 

 

Second Issue:

  Paying $400-500 and not able set static route on this modem. 

 

I have these modem too - AC1900/C7000, and it works with out any issue. Since I upgraded the internet speed on spectrum and they wanted us to have specific modem based on the site. I had purchased it.

 

Please feel free to advise on these!

Not sure what you mean by you removed all IP from the DNS settings.

 

In terms of static ip address, have you used reserved IP address?

The C7000 is a modem router. Are you adding that to the CAX80 ?

What does that mean? What are you trying to do and what happens?

 

Take a deep breath, go back to basics and start from scratch.

 

Manuals are always a good place to start.

Visit the support pages:

Support | NETGEAR

Feed in your model number and check the documentation for your hardware.

You may have done that already. I can't tell from your message.

I mention it because Netgear gave up on supplying paper manuals and CD versions some years ago and people sometimes miss the downloads.

When I applied Primary DNS (for example X.X.X.X) from the Linux box. The Linux box sorts the IP with the blacklist. 

 

Linux Box has 8.8.8.8. - I have internet through the google and its sorted out to X.X.X.X IP and that IP I have put on Primary DNS. 

 

When I remove 8.8.8.8 means to empty then I should not have any internet to pass through the modem. 

--- Apply these changes works fine with c7000 modem. But on this CAX80 - The internet gets connected through. This is a problem because allowing internet out from the CAX80 is not acceptable. I reached out to netgear chat team and they asked me to reach to internet provider and they are referring back to the netgear. 

 

I am in a loop of netgear and spectrum with no solution.
