Nighthawk CM1200, slow speeds, partial service
My CM1200 is a little more than a year old, bought for use with RCN Gig Speed internet.
The modem has always thrown errors in the logs, mostly this one:
Missing BP Configuration Setting TLV Type: 17.3;CM-MAC=38:94:ed:08:96:c8;CMTS-MAC=00:af:1f:1f:24:ee;CM-QOS=1.1;CM-VER=3.1;
But it never interfered with service so I ignored it.
However, several weeks ago my speeds dropped from around 950mbps to 19mbps. Restarting the modem will give 950mbps for a test or two, then drop back down to 19.
RCN says they can’t see anything wrong. They’ve sent a refresh signal several times but there was no change.
I noticed in the cable status section it says “partial service” under the downstream bonded channels. RCN said it looks like the modem needs to be replaced but I think it’s the outside wiring.
I’ve attached a screenshot of the cable status page.

Re: Nighthawk CM1200, slow speeds, partial service
you've got line issues.
Your power levels are through the roof. They should be between -7.5 and 7.5dbmv. You're over 15. Way to hot.
they'll need to check lines or turn down their power amplifier for your setup.
Or you can try adding in a 4-6x coax splitter in line to see if that'll drop the power enough. Or a signal attenuator.
Current setup: CM2000-> RBKE963B-> Trendnet TEG-S380-> GS716T-> pi-hole
also in AP setup: RAXE500->EAX80
1.4gig download/50mbps upload from Xfinity
