Use Nighthawk CAX80 as wireless router connected to Ubee DVW32CB?

Use Nighthawk CAX80 as wireless router connected to Ubee DVW32CB?

I have Spectrum, and an Ubee DVW32CB Advanced Wireless Voice Gateway. I recently purchased the Nighthawk AX8 WiFi Cable Modem Router Model CAX80, but need to continue using the Ubee as a modem because of its voice capability.

How do I continue using the Ubee as the modem and voice gateway but use the CAX80 as the wireless router? I connected the CAT cable from the CAX80 to the Ubee but the internet did not work. I also went into the Ubee web user interface and selected "Primary Network Bridged" but that stopped my internet from working on the Ubee and the internet on the CAX80 did not work either.

Any help would be appreciated

Re: Use Nighthawk CAX80 as wireless router connected to Ubee DVW32CB?

I think you got wrong device for your combination here.

what you could ask your ISP if they are willing to do for you, is to keep voice on Ubee device and move Internet service to CAX80 as CAX80 is much better in WIFI performance to Ubee device you have.

or you should have ideally got router only device.

A second cable-TV-type modem+router was probably not a wise choice.

Because it lacks an Ethernet WAN/Internet port, I doubt that you can.

If a device has different types of Ethernet ports, then "connected to
device" is not enough detail.

Why do you want to use _anything_ else with the DVW32CB?  Are you
looking for better router features, or better wireless-network coverage,
or what?

If your actual goal is better wireless-network coverage, then you
should be able to configure your CAX80 as a wireless access point.  See,
for example:

      https://community.netgear.com/t5/x/x/m-p/1463500

That's written for a Netgear C6300-as-WAP, but the steps are about the
same for any other router (any make/model) which lacks a one-step WAP
option.

Vkdelta - yes, that’s exactly what I did. And now I’m not charged for the Ubee, since voice equipment is free. The CAX80 is a lot faster, but it’s located in the basement and my office is on the 2nd floor, so I purchased the EAX20 so I can hopefully get 5G speeds

You should have considered a RAX80 or RAX120 wifi 6 router for use with your Ubee modem instead of the CAX80. These are just the router and wifi 6 that you can use with your EAX80 extender.

good that you split and not getting charged.

If you have another coax outlet (and in good working condition), you can connect CAX80 in floor-1 or floor-2. typically townhomes have coax outlets in multiple rooms (but needs to be properly connected and not add a lot of splitters thereby injecting noise)
