c6300 keeps dropping connection
I just bought the c6300 cable modem router to use with Comcast xfinity internet service. I followed the quick installation and activated with Comcast. Now my experience is that every day at random times, the wireless connection will dissapear. I will no longer be able to see the wifi signal for either 2.4 or for 5g.
Things that resolve the problem:
- resetting the modem
- restarting the modem
- turning off the wireless radio and then turning on the wireless radio again
Then when the problem is resolved. After a few minutes or after a few hours, the wireless signal will drop again.
Unfortunately, none of these are solutions solve the problem permenantly as I need to have consistent wireless signal and cannot be resetting things constantly.
I have spent over an hour with Netgear support on the phone and have changed the channel to 01 and the problem persisted. I was not able to be connected to a supervisor. My case number is 27232197. Firmware is V2.01.14
If I cannot resolve this problem in the next few hours, I will return the product as it is not dependable and this product and customer service experience has severely tarnished my perception of the Netgear brand and products.
Any suggestions on how to resolve this problem are greatly appreciated.

Hello cybrnstr
Are you seeing anything in your cable logs when the drop outs are happening? if so could you copy and paste them.

Hello freeraical2
When the drop outs happen can you log into you modem and copy the logs you can find them under Advanced-Administration-Logs.

Re: c6300 keeps dropping connection
Hi Darren and others,
I read the following article from Netgear and made the changes suggested. I have not had any problems since. Although I read many forum threads, I did not see this article referenced. I hope this is helpful to other people.

Re: c6300 keeps dropping connection
Theres no way to completely copy and paste the logs bc of your banging interface which cuts off some of the information.....it cant be save to a text file and it cant be uploaded here. Here is a pathping and a traceroute I uploaded to Blizzard support. That idiot thought I was using wireless. I am wired in and its still dropping.

Re: c6300 keeps dropping connection
Hello cybrmstr
If your trying to traceroute Blizzard servers it will time out they mask those hops past there ISP which is ATT to protect there servers from attacks. But what type of drops are you experiencing? does the internet go completely out or do you drop from games.

Re: c6300 keeps dropping connection
So heres what happens, and its not with this 1 area......every device in the house it happens to.......Im in arcade which is a lobby on SC2 and for no reason and like every day depending on how long it takes to launch a game. That blizzard system will reset, kicking me from arcade chat.....relaunching the welcome screen like how ever many ppl are on and how many games going.. every device in the house will from time to time depending on where im sitting will have an internet connection then drop. For instance if I sit at the dining room table with my IPAD i will launch clash of clans app.....and in the middle of trying to run a replay....drops. Then when I reload....runs fine. My sons computer does it, all of our iphones, ipads, wireless devices do it. Its random disconnects and constant annoyances. If im in a game I do not drop from it, nor drop then reconnect, only when in arcade chat which as i said before is a kinda setup lobby for games to be played. Ive asked other players if the same happens to them, and it doesnt. i also run a repeater upstairs. Ive tried changing channels for wireless but the same still exsists no matter what channel is used. Of course this is pointless since my computer and my sons are wired in.

Re: c6300 keeps dropping connection
Hello cybrmstr
At this point I would suggest contacting support if your modem is still under warranty they will be able to troubleshoot more and find out if its a issue with the modem or not.

Re: c6300 keeps dropping connection
Ya thats what ill do.....ill pay for premium support when ITS OBVIOUSLY a Hardware issue since its over a year old. 300 bucks for a year of use. Ya no thanks, ill just post on social media the NUMEROUS issues this model has and troll these forums to make sure everyone knows about it. Thx Ill go get myself a real router like cisco, not the no frills product I got with this.
