cm1200 & XR500 half wifi speeds

So just moved to a new house, and I also got a new modem, a CM1200 for gigbit speeds.

ISP is 1200mbps, and I was troubleshooting with them, but they said they are sending those speeds, so they think its a modem/router issue.

Ive HAD my XR500 for about two years, and never had gig speeds, always paid for 300-400 range, and always was able to get those speeds wired and wifi.

Now that I have 1200, i get about 5-600 speeds on 5g on my iphone and devices, basically half of what im paying for, i tried a direct connection, and was even slower.

Weird part is, when I do the setup on my XR500 (I did a Factory reset) it clocked 980gbps. Soooo really strange why im not getting faster speeds than 600.

I did a reset so everything is defauly settings, on firmware V2.3.2.66

any ideas?

If the router is seeing 980, but not pushing anything lose to that? Is there something going on with my signal?

BTW is there any settings or updates i need for the CM1200?

thanks!

Re: cm1200 & XR500 half wifi speeds

Most wifi devices max out at around 400-500Mpbs on 5Ghz AC. You not see anything near 900Mpbs on these devices. 2x2 antenna will be a limiting factor to higher speeds. 4x4 or higher allows for higher speeds to be seen.

Direct connected to my xbox only sees 550-600 as well?

Do you have a wired PC or laptop to test with. I've never been confident in MS speed tests on game consoles. YOu can't set a different test site on consoles, where PC or laptop with Speed test app you can.

AX devices are just  starting to hit gig speeds but thats at close range and you'd need an AX router and AX device.

Weird part is, when I do the setup on my XR500 (I did a Factory reset) it clocked 980gbps. Soooo really strange why im not getting faster speeds than 600.----So you're hitting 980 mbps out of the XR500 when hardwired in? That's actually pretty good as most gig connectios i've seen are 940-950mbps. But it does mean the router is getting full speeds.

If the router is seeing 980, but not pushing anything lose to that? Is there something going on with my signal?----I think its more a misunderstanding of what expectations are over wireless AC. You can read more here: https://www.duckware.com/tech/wifi-in-the-us.html    on what to extect from wireless connections.

BTW is there any settings or updates i need for the CM1200?

thanks!
