Best UPS to use with a cable modem

I recently purchased the modem.  I would like to obtain a new UPS battery backup for this unit.  Can anyone recommend:

1) The best brand and size UPS to use with this cable modem

2) Should there be a seperate UPS unit for the modem & one for the router?

I appreciate any help in this area.

APS is a UPS brand. The longer the battery life the more costly they are. You'll need to check out the mfr of UPS to see what they recommend for the configuration you need. You can connect the modem and router to the UPS together. I have an APS and it lasts for about 30 minutes with the modem and a 2.4Ghz wifi router connected. The bigger the router the less battery time you'll get from the UPS.

Re: Best UPS to use with a cable modem

SacramentoSteve, you may wish to consider a UPS (e.g., see here) that provides EMI/RFI filtration, surge suppression, and automatic voltage regulation – together with battery backup using sine wave output, the importance of which is explained here.

P.S.:  A single UPS, with sufficient output watts, can provide protection for a PC, router, and modem.

Aside from models with a (typically 12V) DC output, for direct
connection to the router or other gizmo, is there anything on the market
these days which lacks any of those features?

Well, duh.  Something that's good enough is usually good enough.

Back in the real world, "sufficient output watts" (or "power", as we
say in the trade) is only one consideration.  The battery capacity of a
UPS affects (limits) the time for which that UPS can power its load.
