Best bandwidth possible
I've started to do some looking into different specs and a simple question came up: just how fast of transfer speed can I really expect from a modem and/or router? I am running a Cat6 cable from my router into a switch where all of my intertainment devices are then hardwired. I did this because I believe wired is faster than wifi. However, while my Cat6 can do 10 Gb/s I don't think my router nor my switch can. So, let's say I buy the best nighthawk router and switch, how fast can I expect a file to transfer from one device to another (intranet) and say from Netflix to a device (internet)? I'm willing to be the answer is 1 Gb/s which actually puts it below the latest wifi standard (1.6 Gb/s - shared).

Re: Best bandwidth possible
Consumer grade routers, like the Nighthawk, and switches can do 1 Gb/s. 10 Gb/s is still prohibitively expensive for most people.
Don't take the quoted Wi-Fi speeds at face value. Real world speeds are usually 50% slower. Wired is still the way to go for speed and reliability.
