AP (Access Point) mode requires an Ethernet connection to the main router.  You may be thinking of a range extender, which is different.

It would be unusual for the C3000 to have this capability.  Netgear usually does not provide it in their routers.

Are you talking about the C3700?  It has two Ethernet ports.

Yes you can use a range extender to wirelessly connect to your main router.  It won't, however, be as fast as a wired Access Point.

If you want to set up the C3000 as a wired Access Point, then you can use either Ethernet port.

Sorry if my prior answer wasn't clear.  No, you cannot use it as a wireless access point.
