C6230 - MY ROUTER/MODEM ALWAYS SEEM TO RUN VERY WARM TO THE TOUCH.
MY ROUTER/MODEM ALWAYS SEEM TO RUN VERY WARM TO THE TOUCH. I HAVE SEEN INTERMITTANT TIMES WHERE THE MODEM IS NOT CONNECTING AND BOOTS BACK UP AFTER A PERIOD OF TIME WHEN I HAVE SHUT IT DOWN AND COOLED IT OFF. RUNNING A FAN THAT IS AIMED AT IT SEEMS TO KEEP IT COOL BUT THIS IS A PAIN.
THIS SEEMS ABNORMAL, COMMENTS?

1. caps lock. please uncheck it. Thanks
2. do you have a screensnip of the cable connections page and event logs?
3. what actual temp does it run at?
4. You put its rebooting, does that happen even with the fan pointed at it?
5. is it in a well ventilated area?
6. Is anything blocking its vents?

Re: C6230 - MY ROUTER/MODEM ALWAYS SEEM TO RUN VERY WARM TO THE TOUCH.
nothing is blocking the venting, sits by itself. Have not taken its temp, just know it is hot to touch. I can keep my hand on it but only for a bit.
Do not have a screenshot, not sure how to get that. The fan is a new idea to keep it cool and it has not needed to be rebooted in last 24 hours since implementing

Re: C6230 - MY ROUTER/MODEM ALWAYS SEEM TO RUN VERY WARM TO THE TOUCH.
Usually not a good sign for longevity if its running that warm.
If you log into the router through the browser, click on the internet icon on the home page/basic. It'll take you to the cable connections page.
find the event logs this route: https://kb.netgear.com/30008/How-do-I-view-or-clear-the-event-logs-on-my-NETGEAR-cable-modem-or-mode...

Regardless of replacement, get you a laptop cooler under it. Keep it cool. Been using these since about 2012 under any modem and router I use.

Re: C6230 - MY ROUTER/MODEM ALWAYS SEEM TO RUN VERY WARM TO THE TOUCH.
The C6230 isn't that high of a performing device to need a cooler. Is it nice to have to keep electronics going? Sure. heats the death of electronics. But if its needing a cooler for that base model of device, somethings wrong with it.
I'd be saving the $ for the next version of modem/router if you end up needing one.

Good you got something. Never hurts to have some additional cooling. Keeps things cool and they last longer as well.
