C6300 firmware updated needed

I use a Netgear C6300 and my firmware is V1.02.21 but the current version is V3.01.12. I spoke to Netgear and they said they send the updates to XFinity who is then responsible for sending them to us, the users. They cannot send it to me directly. So I contacted Xfinity customer service and was informed they don't do firmware updates, that it's entirely on the manufacturer. They refused to budge on this. What can I possibly do? There's no way for me to do this manually, and I'm not touching the Nighthawk App seeings as it doesn't support my model and has horrific reviews. I was looking at getting a new router-modem 2-in-1, but I saw my current model is still be sold. Makes no sense if it's an out-of-date model. Why bother getting a new model if there won't be updates?

How can I update my firmware?

Find someone at the ISP who's better educated?  Netgear creates the
firmware for its products, but only the ISP can distribute it.

The short answer is that, for a DOCSIS device, _you_ can't.
(Exception: Some recent models have separate firmware for the DOCSIS
modem section (restricted) and the router section (unrestricted).  The
C6300 is not one of those models.)
