C6300 slow internet (xfinity internet)
Hey everyone,
I've been having off and on slow internet for about a week now. Here some notes on what I've done so far:
-There was a splitter from where the cable wire came out of the wall to the modem. I had cable for a few years but forgot to take off the splitter once I got rid of it. Taking off the splitter appeared to help for a few days but now my internet is back to being slow.
- I have the 200 MBPS package and right now im average around 30-50 MBPS. Sometimes resettting the router or turning it off/on helps
-ISP has informed me that there is nothing wrong on their end from what they can tell.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Posting logs as well:

Photos can take several days to show up as a moderator has to approve them. And we don't usually check back unless there's a new post.
click on "choose file" and add them 1 by one.
Include screen snips of the cable connections page and the event logs.
Are your speeds wired? or wireless?
How are you testing them? via app? built in speedtest? the actual speedtest website? Details are key here.

Thanks for the reply. So I'm testing on both wired and wireless. I do a lot of gaming and notice significant drop off in performance as well.
I've used both speedtest.net as well as Xfinity's speedtest website.
Right now the internet speed is fine but I notice that it will drop off to around 30-50 MBPS at different times. Just not sure why it drops at different points.

Re: C6300 slow internet (xfinity internet)
the event log helps more as that looks at the modem side.
From your cable connections page, your signal is a bit hot coming in(to high of power).
If you have just a dual splitter, put it back in line. it drops signal levels a bit coming in. and your modem can up its power for the power upstream without causing issues.
how are you speedtesting?

Right now the internet speed is fine but I notice that it will drop off to around 30-50 MBPS at different times. Just not sure why it drops at different points.---could be something stupid like wind blowing a coax line. I had things like that cause signals to be good then bad. its tough to pinpoint when it only happens occasionally.
do you get full speed wired?
The cable connections page just takes the info from that moment in time you load the screen. Pull that cable connections page when the speeds drop.
Also, the event logs show us a longer period of time. Such as dynamic power violations (power goes in/out of spec) t3/t4 errors. which is why we'd like those 🙂

Okay, i'll be sure to pull the cable connections when the speed drops and post it.

how are you speedtesting?
So you are saying that I should put the splitter back on that I had originally?
Speedtesting Is used on both my phone and laptop and using speedtest.net and xfinity's speedtest site. I also notice a significant drop off on my speed when wired on a ps5.

So you are saying that I should put the splitter back on that I had originally?---yes, put it back in. Then use it for a bit and redo the screen shots.

I also notice a significant drop off on my speed when wired on a ps5.----ps5 isn't reliable as it doesn't always pick the best server. Do you get full speeds hardwired in with your laptop? Also, if testing wireless, make sure you're testing on the 5ghz. 2.4ghz is slow and 30-40mbps is around what most people can expect from 2.4ghz.

Hey sorry for the late reply. Was busy due to the holidays. So I've retried the splitter and the speeds drop to 10-15 MBPS instead of the 30-40 MBPS range without the splitter. I've been using the hardwire on my laptop and have tried numerous test methods (phone on 5ghz and 2.4 ghz) and all speeds are slow.
Other times the connection is fine and I get the full 200+ MBPS. I'm starting to wonder if its something Xfinity needs to address even though they are saying there is no issue on their end.
