C7000-100NAS fails to perform its advertised speed

C7000-100NAS is failing to perform its advertised speed of "up to 960Mbps:

-Bought C7000 3 years ago and been satisfied with 200mbps. But when I upgraded my ISP to 400mbps, I couldn't see the difference. (NOTE: This Nighthawk AC1900 Cable Modem Router 24x8 channel bonding is rated up to 960Mbps). BestBuy Black Friday 2020 is currently selling the unit for $189.00.

I had Spectrum tech troubleshoot it and he says the modem/router is not capable of handling that speed. He was able to verify that Spectrum is sending 400Mbps using their hardware. He wanted me rent theirs to get the 400 mbps which of course I said no.

And so, that is where I need help🤭😅

1.) Is it true that this unit cannot handle 400Mbps?
2.) What is the difference between the 2017 and 2020 edition?🤔 (BestBuy is currently selling the same unit that I bought from 2017).

3.) How do I make this unit work with 400Mbps?

Thanks all, I would really appreciate any help or tips🙂

Re: C7000-100NAS fails to perform its advertised speed

Spectrum's on site shows both v1 and v2 compatible with 400mbps speeds.

https://www.spectrum.net/support/internet/compliant-modems-spectrum-network/

So unless they've changed the requirements, it should be able to get those speeds.

And ISP's have changed "minimum requirements" for speeds before. For example cox changed it so speeds greater than 150mbps now require a docsis 3.1 modem.

I haven't heard of spectrum doing that so far.

And the "up to speeds" are just what ISP's have the capability of rating it to with their own provisioning. Not all do though as they ISP chooses what speeds to certify it to.

so to answer

1. Yes it can handle 400mbps

2. Basically v1 to v2 can be small changes like a die shrink on a processor, update to processor, etc.

What speeds are you getting from the C7000 hardwired into it?
