Something to ask NG about. I presume once a model modem comes out and has already been certified at a certain level, anything beyond that maybe limited by chipset support. Something which the C7100 may not have support for D3.1.
If you want to upgrade your ISP speed and still have support for phone, I would review the CM1150v D3.1 modem only unit, then connect up a external router of your choice.
