C7800 Wifi speed is slow
I just bought C7800 several days ago, because I need DOCSIS 3.1 model to support gig speed of Comcast.
Then I notice the speed of 5G wifi only have 400Mbits and it should be near 900Mbits to 1000Mbits. I call xfinity and they send a guy come and test wired on their test device. The speed is 900+Mb.
I have tried:
1. reset device.
2. change wireless channel to other number instead of 153.
None of them can make my wireless speed faster than 400Mbs.
Test method: speedtest.net and xfinity.speedtest.com.
Firmware Version: V3.01.43
Does anyone have solutions of this issue?

Re: C7800 Wifi speed is slow
how are you testing and with what kind of device? based on your description, I suspect your wifi device doesn't support higher speeds. Also keep in mind that the advertised speeds on the package are theoretical and you'll never fully reach them due to various reasons

Re: C7800 Wifi speed is slow
MacBook Pro 2018, internet interface up to 1.3Gb, test via Speedtest.net and Speedtest.xfinity.com.
iphone X and iPad Pro, test via speedtest application.

Re: C7800 Wifi speed is slow
Does your C7800 support HT 160 Mhz? If so, turn it on and test again. You can find that setting in Advanced -> Advanced Setup -> Wireless Setting. The option on my R7800 (and I assume the C7800 too) is located at the bottom of that page

Re: C7800 Wifi speed is slow
The C7800 is a modem/router. Anything else on the network? Another router?

No, I don't find "HT 160MHz" in Advanced -> Advanced setting -> Wireless settings page.

Re: C7800 Wifi speed is slow
C7800 is only MY router. However, there are lots of neighbors' wifis I can find in my apartment. So I think the answer might be "No, C7800 not the only router in my area"

If you ask devices in my network, the answer is no. Just my iphone, ipad, and my macbook.

Re: C7800 Wifi speed is slow
What are your current wifi settings for 2.4 and 5Ghz?
HT160Mhz is not supported on the C7800.

What are your current wifi settings for 2.4 and 5Ghz?
I.e. Auto speeds, Auto channels, WPA modes? Things like that...

Re: C7800 Wifi speed is slow
What channels are you using? Auto? Try setting manual channel 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz and channel 44 on 5Ghz.
Try setting the Mode from max to one mode lower then max for each radio and test. You can disable the 2.4Ghz radio as well while testing on 5ghz.
Test with different wifi devices for comparison.

Re: C7800 Wifi speed is slow
Hi,
I had the same exact problem. very similar settings (2.4G and 5G). I see at most 300Mbps. I once hooked up my ethernet cable to the router and c7800 does see close to 900Mbps on the etheret cable (i.e not a comcast issue).
I cannot see why this is dropping so much.

Re: C7800 Wifi speed is slow
Most current wifi AC supporting devices will not see anything near 900Mbps on speeds tests. Most will max out at around 400-500Mbps. Wired is preferred with testing of anything near 900Mbps ISP speeds.

Do some research into real and imagined (advertised) wifi speeds.
Here are some sources on wifi speeds that I have stumbled across over the years:

Welcome to the real world.
And that is without even asking about your own wifi clients.

Re: C7800 Wifi speed is slow
I typically get 750+ Mbps on the C7800 on a 2019 Macbook Pro.
