CM1000 Frequent Disconnects

I have been getting frequent but brief diconnections using the modem lately.

I have already had a Comcast tech out to look at my line levels and any other issues, and he signed off on everything after installing an amplifier. I had no issues for months, until the last few weeks.

I'm also getting lots of these ranging response warning in the modem log.

I've seen others reporting simiar issues with Comcast on this same modem, and they seem to blame the firmware. Not having kept track of the running firmware, i can't say the same, but I can say, this hasnt always been an issue. I'm running v3.01.02.

I work from home, so I notice it while working. Most of the time it happens only in the morning when its still colder outside. The last tech that visited mentioned that temperature can affect transmition power levels, so I feel like the smoking gun is almost identified here.

Included the error log which I hope helps identify my issue.

Re: CM1000 Frequent Disconnects

I should add that I have another tech scheduled to come out tomorrow to see if they can do anything again, but i really think my problems are upstream, and not at my house.

Re: CM1000 Frequent Disconnects

please power cycle the modem. you should be getting 3.1.4 from today morning.

also, clear the log from the GUI and monitor new logs.

are you seeing disconnections?

Re: CM1000 Frequent Disconnects

I do in fact now have 3.01.04 after a reboot. I'll monitor my situation over the next week or so and see if I still continue to have issues.

Re: CM1000 Frequent Disconnects

I got a few more of those warning messages the next day (20th), but nothing since (going on 6 days now).

I've also been on vacation so I haven't been able to closly monitor my VPN connectivity issues with my office, but at a glance, it seems to have been more stable post firmware upgrade.

Re: CM1000 Frequent Disconnects

So i've had a few more disconnections, but nothing like I was experencing before.

I did however have an event today where my internet completely went out.

After various troubleshooting steps, the ISP and I figured out that the modem was not handing out an IP address to the connected client. Be that a router or a directly attached PC.

The rep reinnitialzed the router and the problem immediatly went away. I really hope that this was a fluke as I have already had more issues with this modem than I have ever had with all my prior modems put together.
