CM1000v2 Intermittent issue

I have contacted Mediacom (My ISP) and they claim the problem is with the modem.

I am up-to-date on the firmware.

Anyone know how I can resolve this issue?

Re: CM1000v2 Intermittent issue

Please post a copy and paste of the modems connection status page.

Have the ISP check the signal and line quality UP to the modem. Be sure the ISP provisions the modem correctly.
Be sure there are no coax cable line splitters in the between the modem and ISP service box.
Be sure your using good quality RG6 coax cable up to the modem.
Be sure to power OFF the modem for 1 minute then back ON.

Re: CM1000v2 Intermittent issue

You didn't really give us a very good description of what your actual issues. Just that you think its the line and media come thinks its the modem.

1. what actual issue (in detail) are you having?

2. does it impact both wired and wireless devices?

3. what router do you have connected to the modem?

4. do you have a screen snip of the cable connections page?

5. what makes you think its the line and mediacom think its the modem? (what testing has been done)

Re: CM1000v2 Intermittent issue

I can't seem to post the status page, it says the post is too large.

Isseue is in the log, Modem becomes unresponsive for about 10-30 sec, it seems the corresponds to the type 16 to 24 message.

Re: CM1000v2 Intermittent issue

You have a lot of unlocked channels and errors in the line.

Not a ton of errors but coupled with the unlocked channels, it can be a line issue.

Start with removing any amplifiers, signal attenuators, or splitters from the coax.
From there check the line for kinks, damage, moisture in the line.
Check the connectors for improperly made ends, foil touching the copper coax line, bad/old/cheap connectors, or corroded connections. Replace them if you do.
If you can, simply connect the modem right where the coax comes into the home. This prevents wiring in the home from being the issue. And some ISP’s charge if the wiring issue is in the home. So this helps prevent this.

And if your ISP straight up says "its not the line, its your modem", then try renting a modem from them for a month. If everything works as it should for the whole month, it sure could be the modem. Its not unheard of. And if it has issues, then they can't blame it on the modem.

Re: CM1000v2 Intermittent issue

I have already had tech from the IPS in to check the line out and it was he who said the modem is the issue.

I will try renting it for a month and see how it works out.
