Re: CM1150V LACP LAGG Firmware Issue - Comcast V2.02.04 and V2.02.03

CM1200 and all LACP enabled Netgear modems have this problem. Just get a MB8600 or SB8200 because even with a fixed firmware on the Netgears it will take 6-12 months before providors push the firmware if they even do. I'm not sure how something like this passed Netgear QA for so many diffrent modem models.

Re: SB8200 - it has an issue with LACP where it will reset itself once about every 24 hours. I haven't yet tried the MB8600 for LACP.

Re: CM1150V LACP LAGG Firmware Issue - Comcast V2.02.04 and V2.02.03

I have the MB8600 and it has never had any issues with LACP out of the box. I also have a SB8200 and never ran into any interface or device resets with it using LACP. Netgear has three modems with this issue and all were released at diffrent times. I bought the CM1200 as soon as it was released but found it had the same firmware issues as the others. They even did customer beta units on DSLReports

I have not seen this with my CM1100. Thought I'm not on CC so I might not be effected.

NG is aware of the problem with the CM1200.

I dont have the CM1100 or CM1150 but from my understanding they had the same issue with LACP. Have you used both with LACP enabled?

Re: CM1150V LACP LAGG Firmware Issue - Comcast V2.02.04 and V2.02.03

I Cooke with David from Comcast support in New Hampshire today. He escalated it to xfinity national who gets the new firmware. He was in contact with regional tier two support and the did read this article and the xfinity forum on page one of this forum. They will try and get the firmware update released. They did tell me to force a push simply unplug modem for 30 seconds and plug back in and it will check for new firmware. I will keep everyone posted if I make any progress but if more people call I would assume it would help to make them aware there are more people with the same issue.

I would keep on them about this, they have already been sitting on the firmware with the fix for a couple months now.

Looks like netgear just closed my case less than 24 hours after opening it with no resolution, comments, or any communication at all.

They already know it has a firmware problem, they fixed it and sent the firmware to Comcast, it's now up to Comcast to push the firmware to our modem. Opening a ticket with Netgear isn't going to solve anything and will just tie up Netgear support for a problem that Comcast has to be the one to fix so they closed the ticket that they can't do anything about.

Re: CM1150V LACP LAGG Firmware Issue - Comcast V2.02.04 and V2.02.03

I understand the isp pushes the firmware. When I call the isp they say they don’t support because it’s not their modem, the firmware I am on is the latest, and call netgear for support. When I call netgear they tell me it’s comcast who needs to update the firmware. The way I see it, netgear makes the faulty product and they should own up to it. I am working with both Comcast and netgear to get is resolved.

Re: CM1150V LACP LAGG Firmware Issue - Comcast V2.02.04 and V2.02.03

IF your need LAG and its not working for you, I would suggest returning the 1150v and get a CM1100. It also supports LAG. It's up to NG to fix the issues however they still have to push it to the ISPs. Some ISPs don't push to customer owned modems, so in this case find something that works or use ISP support HW.

Good Luck.

Re: CM1150V LACP LAGG Firmware Issue - Comcast V2.02.04 and V2.02.03

I’m past the return period unfortunately. I would love to try the cm1100 however I am on a triple play and if it doesn’t have voice jacks (which I don’t use) then the Comcast won’t activate it. I could go back to Comcast and get their equipment but now I’m stuck with a modem that I paid for that doesn’t do what it’s advertised to do. I’m not the only one frustrated with this situation. Perhaps I ask netgear to buy my equipment back? As one person stated previously, i don’t understand how this passed QA.

Comcast will activate a non-voice modem, you just have to be kind of sneaky about it. I was able to activate a SB8200 after activating a CM1150V but I believe that the trick is doing it through support chat so that they don't ask too many questions. On my triple play account, both the SB8200 and CM1150V show up, but I am only actually using the SB8200.

@FURRYe38 - does the CM1100 not have the same issues as the CM1150V for LAG? And does the same apply to the CM1200?

Re: CM1150V LACP LAGG Firmware Issue - Comcast V2.02.04 and V2.02.03

Both my CM1100/1200 don't have any LAG issues. LAG works with my R7960P with LAG enabled on the router. Only one problem seen with the 1200 is that some users are seeing speed slow downs when LAG is enabled on this model modem with there ISPs. NG is aware and working on it. I have my 1100 online currently. I'm not using LAG at the moment, however I have two separate orbi systems connected to each port on the modem geting different WAN IPs and speeds are mostly to spec. Seeing near 900Mpbs. Really is nice being able to have two separate networks running off 1 modem. Smiley Very Happy

The slowdown problen is the same problem on the CM1150v that the other models experience. The firmware is in Comcasts hands it's just a waiting game at this point when they push it out.

I have the same issue. CM1150V ->LACP->RAX80 WIFI router.

My Xfinity download speeds drop from about 1024mbps to 12-20mbps every 24hrs unless I reset one leg of the LACP pair. I've just been unplugging WAN1 and plugging it back in. As soon as the link resets my speeds are back up to 1G.

Re: CM1150V LACP LAGG Firmware Issue - Comcast V2.02.04 and V2.02.03

Hi,

I opened a chat support ticket with Xfinity tonight and the rep said she updated the firmware to v5.0.. The modem rebooted and still reports V2.02.04. She said it will update to the correct version in a couple of hours, so not sure if it happens during the maintenence widow around 4am or what. I'll report back tomorrow. I attached a screencap of the chat session.

I don't know what that agent was smoking, but  apparently there is no V5.0, another agent said the latest they had was V2.3.x... They weren't able to push that via the WAN, but scheduled a physical installation from a tech. We'll see how that turns out

Re: CM1150V LACP LAGG Firmware Issue - Comcast V2.02.04 and V2.02.03

Thanks for the updates @Wildbob.

You would think Netgear would make some effort to influence Comcast to push an update. Their modem is not delivering advertised capabilities.

@ThePiston450 +1 I'm in the same boat as you and equally frustrated. Past return period.

Sounds silly, but I am thinking that maybe I get a programmable outlet timer that resets the modem nightly.

Dude just disable agg and run 1 cable. I’m pulling 986/42 consistent. No restarting, no slow down, no problem.
