CM2050V Is upgrading firmware an issue?
I just purchased a Netgear CM2050V cable modem with voice because I want internet and a home phone number. However, there seems to be an issue with it that I wonder if anyone else might know about. Also, I want to know if this is true what I've found.
1) Xfinity will use it for voice and internet as mentioned and will allow customers to purchase this modem
2) This Netgear modem does not come with a menu to upgrade the firmware
3) According to this link, Xfinity does not upgrade customer owned modems:
https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/upgrade-modem
Since this modem was made just to work with Xfinity, why doesn't there exist a menu item to upgrade the firmware for it? I know there is no firmware upgrade right now, but is that because there is no way to do the upgrade or is one not needed?

Re: CM2050V Is upgrading firmware an issue?
The firmware is built into the partitioning when they set it up initially.
netgear does submit firmware updates to xfinity but its on xfinity to push it to the modems.
they (xfinity) do updates but its rare.

Because it's a DOCSIS modem.
