"can't" is not a useful problem description.  It does not say what
you did.  It does not say what happened when you did it.  As usual,
showing actual actions with their actual results (error messages, LED
indicators, ...) can be more helpful than vague descriptions or
interpretations.

"connect" to what?  Is your problem with getting your (unspecified)
"laptop" connected (wired or wireless?) to the D6220, or getting the
D6220 connected to your ISP, or what?

Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your model number, and look
for Documentation.  Get the User Manual.  Read.

Re: D6220 configuration problem

The problem is getting the Lenovo laptop connected to the Wifi, all LED lights are working on modem/router. Currently have a Motorola cable modem that has coaxial cable internet connection, we have then connected the Motorola Modem to the Netgear Wifi modem router using the yellow Cat5 cable exactly as per Netgear manual instructions but can't seem to connect laptop or any other device, i.e. Ipad to Wifi. Have used Netgear Genie app, when you come to connect, it just says no internet connection.

is it because we have a coaxial cable connection to the Motorola modem? Even our ISP helpdesk are at a loss.

Running some version of Windows?  Does the D6220 SSID appear in the
wireless network list on the laptop?

> [...] connected to the Wifi, [...]

"connected to the Wifi" or connected to the Internet?  They're not
equivalent.  It's still not clear whether your devices are making a
wireless connection to the router.  A complete Internet connection is a
step beyond that.

I don't know what "all LED lights are working" means to you.  Which
LEDs are which color, doing what?  See "As usual, [...]", above.

Has it a model number?  So, you're not using a DSL connection, and
the D6220 is being used as only a router?

To the red WAN/Internet port?  ("per instructions" is helpful only if
you read and followed them correctly.  "Connected A to B" requires fewer
assumptions by the reader.  See "As usual, [...]", above.)

> [...] Have used Netgear Genie app, [...]

I'd stick with a web browser. Less unreliable Netgear software that
way.

Assuming that your ISP provided the co-ax connection, that's not the
problem.  What do the LED indicators on the modem indicate?

Have you a computer/device with an Ethernet port?  Does it work when
connected directly to the modem?  To the router?
